National Instruments PCIe-8371 Device for PXI Remote Control
The National Instruments PXI-6682H (Part Number: 781059-01) is an IRIG-B, GPS, and IEEE 158 PXI Timing and Synchronization Module. This module allows for the easy synchronization of PXI systems. The NI PXI-6682H can also be utilized for the generation of clock signals and events at pre-defined future times and timestamp inputs extended through the synchronized system time. This module routes clock triggers and messages when installed in slot 2 of a compatible PXI chassis.
This module can route clock triggers and signals at a comparatively low skew within a PXI chassis or between several chassis. Thus, it brings a new method for the synchronization of multiple devices in a single PXI system. With this Timing and Control Module, IEEE 1588, I, RIG-B, PPS, or GPS can be utilized as the time reference to synchronize with other devices or PXI Express and PXI systems. For multiple PXI Express and PXI systems, the users do not have the synchronized clock alone, but they can also consider using the common time reference. Thus, the user can generate synchronized future time events within the synchronized time. The device has 3 SMB general-purpose PFI lines.
The PXI-6682H is run using the NI Sync driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Visual C/C++.
The NI PXI-6682H comes featured with a GPS receiver that can power a live GPS antenna and receive and process the RF signals from the satellite. This Timing and Control Module can override the integrated 10 MHz reference clock on a PXI chassis when it is configured as a start trigger controller. After getting synchronized to GPS, this module can function as an IEEE 1588 grandmaster to cure the synchronization of external 588 devices. The device is equipped with 6 SMB male and 1 standard RJ-45 ethernet connector.
The NI device has a 1 3U compactPCI or PXI slot chassis requirement, and weighs 235 g. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C, an operating and non-operating random vibration of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–at a frequency of 5 to 500 Hz.
