National Instruments PCI-7390 Motion Controller Device
The National Instruments PCI-7390 (Part Number: 779034-01, 192689B-01L) is a P-Command (position command) type of Stepper Motion Controller. This model offers isolation and is designed to be used with p-command mode supporting devices or with devices that support step command input. This Motion Controller has specially designed accessories available for direct communication and connectivity to Panasonic Minas, Mitsubishi MR-J2S, Yaskawa, and Sigma II. The NI PCI-7390 provides motion control for up to four coordinated or independent axes of motion. Like its predecessors, this model has dedicated motion I/O for home and limit switches, as well as I/O for general purpose functions.
This Motion Controller comes incorporated with an SCSI type 100-pin I/O connector. Each of the four axes have separate motion I/O for breakpoint output, trigger input, limit switch input, home switch input, shutdown output, encoder feedback, etc. Moreover, this model has eight non-dedicated user inputs and outputs also. The device has a trajectory update rate range of 62.5 to 500 µs/Sample, a velocity range of 1 to 4,000,000 steps per second, and a maximum step frequency of 4 MHz. For high speed connectivity and hustle free synchronization between the NI PCI-7390 and other National Instruments devices, there is an RTSI connector provided as well.
The motion I/O related configuration of this device requires no manual actions because it is performed through software entirely. However, it is required to set jumpers to choose between sourcing or sinking output types for general purpose outputs. For its optical isolation circuitry, the NI PCI-7390 device requires a +24 V external power supply. The I/O connector provided with this model contains general purpose signals and optically isolated motion control signals.
The NI device is run using the NI-Motion driver software which is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or ANSI C. The NI device weighs 0.29 lbs, and measures 7.03 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and a noncondensing humidity range of 10% to 90%.
PCI-7390 End of Life Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
