The PXI-8115 (Part numbers: 781862-00, 781860-33, 781862-33, 781860-04, 781862-04, 781860-01, and 781862-01) is a Dual-Core Embedded Controller for PXI manufactured by National Instruments. This model has standard I/O capabilities and can be used in conjunction with a PXI-compatible chassis, such as the NI PXI-1042. The I/O on every module includes two DisplayPort video outputs, a parallel port, six high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a reset button, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one RS-232 serial port, and a PCI-based GPIB controller. The National Instruments PXI-8115 is a 3U-sized module with a 1333 MHz memory controller, supporting single-channel DDR3 SO-DIMM memory.
The PXI-8115 is compatible with software packages such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, LabWindows/CVI, and NI-VISA. It also supports NI-DAQmx for use with data acquisition hardware. The user can link a monitor to the controller to display startup messages such as the MAC address and IP address. However, the other computer must have LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT, or other necessary drivers installed. An important fact to note is that the user can record the PXI-8115 Dual-Core Embedded Controller’s MAC address to identify the model.
The National Instruments PXI-8115 allows users to upgrade the installed RAM by replacing the SO-DIMM memory module. The PXI-8115 Dual-Core Embedded Controller features an ExpressCard/34 slot for expansion. While some ExpressCard modules can be inserted while the system is powered on, hot-swapping compatibility depends on the module type and driver support.

It has a standard operating temperature range of 5 °C to 50 °C, with an extended temperature option supporting 0 °C to 55 °C.
