The National Instruments PXIe-8115 (Part Numbers: 781729-04 and 781729-33) is a PXI Express Embedded Controller designed for use with PXI Express-compatible chassis, such as the PXIe-1082, forming a fully PC-compatible system. This controller features an Intel Core i5-2510E dual-core processor (3 MB Cache, 2.5 GHz base frequency), a 250 GB SATA hard drive (minimum size, varies by configuration), and a range of integrated I/O ports. These ports include two DisplayPort video outputs, one RS-232 serial port, one parallel port, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, six high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a PXI trigger SMB connector, an ExpressCard/34 expansion slot, and a PCI-based GPIB controller.
The PXIe-8115 controller is a four-wide 3U PXI Express module, meaning it requires one system slot and three controller expansion slots in a PXI Express chassis. Since many I/O ports are integrated, all active slots in the chassis remain available for measurement and control modules. The modular design of the PXIe-8115 eliminates the need for complex cabling to daughter boards, reducing integration issues.
