PXI-2532, 512 Crosspoint, Reed Relay, PXI Matrix Switch Module
National Instruments PXI-2532 PXI Matrix Switch Module
Designed to bring 512-crosspoint matrix switching capability in a solo 3U PXI slot, the National Instruments PXI-2532 (Part Number: 778572-32) is a Matrix Switch Module. This module offers one of the most massive matrix sizes available, along with ultra-high-density switch configurations. With this model, the user can achieve several configurations or topologies, such as 1-wire 16 × 32 matrix, 1-wire 4 × 128 matrix, 1-wire sixteen 2 × 16 matrix, 2-wire 16 × 16, matrix, 2-wire 4 × 64 matrix, etc.
The National Instruments PXI-2532 is designed to provide 10 W maximum switching power and 0.5 A maximum switching or carry current per channel. This Matrix Switch Module offers ≥30 MHz bandwidth in 1-wire row/column configuration and ≥25 MHz in 2-wire row/column configuration. As far as its trigger characteristics are concerned, the NI PXI 2532 can accept input trigger signals through PXI trigger lines 0–7 at 150 ns (<150 ns is also possible with digital filtering disabled).
The relays utilized in this module have 0.25 ms release time and their mechanical relay life is 1 × 109 cycles. When inserted in a PXI chassis, this Switch Module operates with a simultaneous drive limit of 40 relays. However, this limit could be increased to 64 relays with a PXI Express chassis. The National Instruments PXI 2532 is a PXIe compatible, one slot, 3U PXI module, which weighs 1 lb, and measures 21.6 × 2.0 × 13.0 cm in physical dimensions. This switch consumes 10 W at 5 V when it is used in a PXI chassis and 15 W at 12V in a PXI Express chassis. The device is equipped with 2 160 pos Samtec BTE-EM I/O connectors, and a reed relay module with a contact material–in this case, Rhodium. It has a mechanical relay life of 1 × 109 cycles. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C.
The PXI-2532 has been declared Obsolete by National Instruments, but the module will remain available in perpetuity for both purchase and repairs with Apex Waves.
