National Instruments PXIe-5611 I/Q Modulator Module

The PXIe-5611 (Part numbers: 780277-01, 780277-11) is an I/Q Modulator Module from National Instruments that functions as part of the PXIe-5673E Vector Signal Generator Module. Part number 780277-01 of the PXIe-5611 represents the standard 6.6 GHZ version of the I/Q Modulator, while part number 780277-11 represents the enhanced version of the device. The PXIe-5673E that incorporates the PXIe-5611 also includes the PXIe-5450/5451 Waveform Generator and the PXIe-5650/5651/5652 RF Analog Signal Generator.

This I/Q Modulator Module is run using the NI-RFSG 1.6 driver software, which can be programmed with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows, and C/C++. The NI PXIe-5611 module is inserted into a PXI Express slot, and used with Windows Vista/XP/7 operating systems. The frequency range of the module is 50 MHz to 6.6 GHz, and it utilizes 0.6 A current at +3.3 VDC. For this specification, the power is typically 10.5 W.

The RF output of the NI PXIe-5611 module is 1 dB typical, and a maximum of +19 dB. The DC input power is ±5 VDC (Max). The front panel of this module is equipped with eight SMA female connectors and two multicolor LEDs. It is recommended by the manufacturer to calibrate the PXIe-5611 once a year- however, if your application demands greater accuracy, the module can be calibrated more often. The I/Q Modulator Module can be calibrated if NI-RFSG version 1.6 or later is installed on the calibration system, because this driver software has all of the Vis needed for calibration.

The NI device weighs 20 oz, and measures 8.5 x 0.8 x 5.1 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and -40 °C to 71 °C respectively. The non-condensing humidity ranges from 10% to 90% when operational and 5% to 95% for storage. The operating and non-operating random vibrations are 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz. The module is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1.
