National Instruments PCI-7830R Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device
The National Instruments PCI 7830R is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device (RIO) from the R Series. This model comes equipped with a Virtex-II 1M Gate type FPGA. The incorporated FPGA chip makes it capable of customizable I/O operation and onboard processing. This model offers four analog inputs and four analog outputs. The inputs have up to 200 kHz independent sampling rates at 16-bit resolution and over ±10 V range. The outputs have up to 1 MHz independent update rates up to 1 MHz at 16-bit resolution and over ±10 V. Moreover, it comes featured with 56 digital lines and 3 DMA channels. These conditioning lines can be configured as either counters, inputs, outputs, or custom logic at up to 40 MHz rates. Also, the device has a timebase of 40, 80 120, 160, or 200 MHz.
With this model, the user will be able to configure entire digital and analog functionality by using National Instruments LabVIEW FPGA module and graphical block diagrams. The block diagrams can be used in hardware, subsequently providing the user with immediate and direct control over all digital I/O signals. The NI PCI 7830R comes featured with a dedicated ADC (analog-to-digital convertor) per channel. These ADCs brings the flexibility of independent triggering and timing operations. Moreover, multi-rate sampling and other specialized functionalities such as individual channel triggering is also a benefit of employing independent ADCs. Thus, the NI PCI 7830R can offer the user capabilities which are not usually offered by typical DAQ hardware. A few examples include analog control, rapid prototyping, sensor simulation, custom and discrete controlling, digital protocol emulation, etc. The I/O device is equipped with 2 68-pin female high-density VHDCI I/O connectors. It has an embedded block RAM of 720 kbits.
The NI device weighs 0.25 lb, and measures 6.7 x 4.3 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and an operating and non-operating random vibration of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
