Featured with eight Analog Inputs, eight Analog Outputs, and 48 Digital Input/Outputs, the National Instruments NI PXIe-7856 (Part Numbers: PXIe-7856R and 784145-01) is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module for PXI Express. This module can acquire samples at 1 MS/s and comes equipped with a Kintex-7 160T FPGA. The integrated FPGA brings robust onboard processing and direct control over analog and digital I/O signals. The NI PXIe-7856 comes equipped with two 68-pin VHDCI I/O connectors.
This module come equipped with a dedicated Digital-to-Analog-Converter (DAC) per channel. This inclusion of independent DACs brings independent triggering and timing capabilities to the PXIe-7856. This module has 2 LVTTL, LVCMOS compatible digital I/O connectors with software-selectable logic selection provision. In its default configuration, these two connectors are set at 3.3 V. Connector 0 can handle a maximum frequency up to 10 MHz and it contains 16 digital channels. Connector 1 can handle up to 80 MHz frequency signals and contains 32 channels.
The 8 analog input channels on this module can be operated in either one of three software-selectable input modes: DIFF, NRSE, and RSE at 16 bits resolution and 1 µs conversion time. This module supports DC input and output coupling. The National Instruments PXIe-7856 supports a user-configurable power-on state; the power-on glitch it encounters stays around 1 V for 1 µs. The reconfigurable FPGA offers 202,800 flip-flops and 11,700 bits of embedded block RAM. The PXIe 7856 is designed to comply with the PXI Express, specification v1.0.
