National Instruments PCI-6115 Multifunction I/O Device

The PCI-6115 is a Multifunction I/O Device from the S Series by NI (Part numbers: 778534-01, 778554-01, 184529D-03). This device has two analog input FIFO buffer sizes available with different part numbers. Part number 778534-01 has 16 MS FIFO buffer size and part number 778554-01 has 32 MS FIFO buffer size.  This device offers four analog input channels. These analog input channels are pseudo differential, with a 12 bit resolution. This model allows the user to input data for various measurement requirements. The instrument also has a simultaneous sampling capability, which is accompanied by a maximum sampling rate of 10 MS per second for each channel–the minimum rate is 20 kS per second. There are also two analog output channels with a maximum update rate of 4 MS per second, and a 12 bit resolution. Additionally, it has 8 TTL/CMOS digital I/O channels. The PCI-6115 Multifunction I/O Device can be used in the following applications: IF digitization, radar, sonar, ultrasound, high-energy physics, 42 V automotive applications, and transient/ballistics measurements.

The NI PCI 6115 incorporates two counters. The counters both have 24 bit resolution. This feature makes the device suitable for various applications that involve stimulus or response calculations. These measurements require a high level of accuracy and synchronization capabilities. The value of absolute accuracy is 184 mV for the analog input channels. The device is powered through a BUS power interface. The PCI-6115 additionally incorporates eight digital channels. These channels are bidirectional. The dedicated A/D converters for each channel allow the user to reach quicker sampling rates for each channel, simultaneous sampling, and improved dynamic preciseness for transient or frequency measurements. The device has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes and should be calibrated at least once every year.

The NI DAQ PCI-6115 can be used with the NI-DAQmx driver, which simplifies the configuration and measurement procedure for the users. The instrument additionally has various event trigger applications available–this further enhances its operational capabilities. The device hardware can be programmed using software packages/application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. The NI device measures 12.3 x 4.2 in. in physical dimensions.
