National Instruments SCXI-1104 Voltage Input Module

The SCXI-1104 (Part Number: 776572-04) module is well-suited for the signal conditioning of high voltage signals. Each of the channels are multiplexed into one channel of a controlling DAQ device, which boosts the overall channel count of the DAQ system. This Voltage Input Module is part of the Signal Conditioning eXtensions for Instrumentation (SCXI) Series, which are meant for signal conditioning of medium-voltage signals, including: 30 VACrms, ±42 VACpeak, and ±60 VDC. Every channel has a three-pole lowpass filter with a 2 Hz cutoff frequency to discard 60 Hz noise. The NI SCXI-1104 does not support ribbon-cabled multichassis SCXI systems. Instead, the user must utilize the SCXI-1346 multichassis adapter in a multichassis system.

The SCXIbus controls the National Instruments SCXI 1104 Voltage Input Module. The SCXIbus interface links the back signal connector to the SCXIbus. This enables a DAQ device to control the SCXI-1104 and the remainder of the chassis. The SCXI-1104 also has switches, which route the multiplexer output to the SCXIbus. There is another switch on the module that can receive a signal put on the SCXIbus by a different SCXI module. This is called indirect scanning.

When installing and configuring the NI SCXI-1104, a connectivity device such as the SCXI-1310, TBX-96, BNC-2095, or SCXI-1300, is necessary. Other necessary components include a software package, such as VirtualBench, ComponentWorks, Measure, LabWindows/CVI for Windows, LabVIEW for Windows, or LabVIEW for Macintosh, a device driver (NI-DAQ for Macintosh or NI-DAQ for PC Compatibles), a computer with an installed DAQ device, an SCXI Chassis with an AC power cord and correct cable assembly, a ¼ in. flathead screwdriver, and a small Philips-head screwdriver. The SCXI-1104 is equipped with a 50-pin male ribbon cable back connector and a 96-pin male DIN C front connector.

The NI device measures 4.54 x 10.75 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 50 °C and –55 to 150 °C respectively, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 90%.

SCXI-1104 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
