National Instruments PCI-5122 Oscilloscope
The NI PCI-5122 Oscilloscope (Part Numbers: 778758-01, 778758-02, 778758-03, 190971K-02L, 190971J-02) utilizes 14-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), low-noise variable-gain amplifiers, a maximum sample rate of 100 MS/s, and a low-jitter 100 MHz timebase to deliver a 75 dBc spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) and a 62 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The 14-bit resolution provides 256 times the quantization levels of traditional 8-bit instruments, enabling more precise time-domain and frequency-domain measurements. This model comes in several variations, each with a different onboard memory size:
778758-01 (8 MB per channel), 778758-02 (32 MB per channel), 778758-03 (256 MB per channel)
This model features software-selectable 50 Ω or 1 MΩ input impedance, input ranges from 200 mVpp to 20 Vpp, and seven trigger modes. The anti-aliasing and noise filters make the NI PCI-5122 sufficiently versatile to meet demanding application requirements. The programmable DC offset feature extends the use of the full 14-bit vertical range, improving measurement accuracy. Built-in self-calibration ensures measurement stability across the operating temperature range of 0 to 45 °C. The device has a typical power consumption of 16.7 W.
Leveraging the NI Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) architecture, the PCI-5122 Oscilloscope supports high-speed memory options ranging from 8 MB to 256 MB per channel (4 to 256 million 14-bit samples per channel). The NI PCI-5122 can acquire over 1 million triggered waveforms without software intervention in multi-record acquisition mode, making it ideal for applications such as RADAR, ultrasound, and event detection, which require short trigger rearm times. Additionally, users can timestamp each triggered event with 100 ps resolution in both single-shot and multi-record acquisition modes. The PCI-5122 can also stream data continuously from onboard memory to host memory for longer acquisitions and disk streaming.
The PCI-5122 is controlled using the NI-SCOPE driver software, which is compatible with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. The NI device weighs 16 oz (454 g) and has physical dimensions of 8.4 × 0.8 × 5.1 in (21.3 × 2.0 × 13.0 cm). It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 45 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 71 °C, and a non-condensing humidity range of 10% to 90% (operating) and 5% to 95% (storage).
Apex Waves will continue to Buy, Sell, and Repair EOL NI Hardware in perpetuity. While the PCI-5122 entered the NI Maintenance phase on December 30, 2022, it will remain available with Apex Waves. Request your quote today!
