National Instruments NI-9482 C Series Relay Output Module

The NI-9482 (Part numbers: 783906-01 and 782999-01) is a C Series Relay Output Module manufactured by National Instruments. It is specifically developed for a wide range of industrial devices, such as suitable for actuators, DC devices, and motors. The NI 9482 Relay Module fulfils the monitoring limits for EMC. These limits are mandatory for safety against harmful intrusion. This module has four electromechanical relay channels. Each channel has two switchable pins (Cha and CHb). 2 wire ferrules are used to generate a safe connection in the NI 9482, which is used when the module is subjected to high vibration.

The NI 9842 module is structured with LED circuits. These LED circuits direct the current state of each channel. The LED will light up when a channel is on. The LED becomes dark when a channel is off. The LED circuits are disabled when the chassis is in sleep mode. The NI-9482 has a screw terminal front connector which is easily removable–another model of the same device is equipped with a spring terminal connector. The NI-9482 is also featured with 10 terminal connectors. The NI-9482 assists a low power sleep mode. It depends on the chassis to which the module is connected. The module consumes less power and release less heat in sleep mode. It has a power consumption of up to 580 mW when active, and 10 mW maximum when in sleep mode.

The NI-9482 has 4 digital output channels with single pole single throw (SPST) technology. Each channel is capable of switching signals up to 30 VDC, 60 VDC, and 250 VDC. All channels are electrically isolated from each other. The channels with 250 Vrms of continuous isolation are earth ground. The output channels have a switching rate of 1 operation per second, a relay release, operate and bounce time of 10 ms max, 15 ms max, and 3 ms respectively.

The NI device weighs 5.3 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, and a noncondensing operating and storage humidity of 10% to 90% RH and 5% to 95% RH respectively.
