This unit supports two interchangeable modules to allow flexible configuration of optical and Ethernet test capabilities. The FTB-200 module integrates a color touchscreen display with 640 x 480 resolution. It comes with 163 mm diagonal screen that provides clear visualization of traces menus and network diagnostic information. Its touch input is complemented by a dedicated keypad with shortcut keys and a rotary knob with enter function to enable intuitive navigation.
The FTB-200 operates on the Windows CE platform which supports multitasking of specialized measurement applications in the field. It offers internal 80 MB flash storage for test data and configuration files while additional capacity is available through USB sticks or CompactFlash cards to manage extensive measurement campaigns directly. It provides multiple hardware interfaces that simplify integration into existing industrial network infrastructures. It includes a USB A host port for memory keys keyboards or mice and a USB B remote port. An RJ45 10/100 MB Ethernet interface supports connectivity for management and remote access functions. A dedicated connector allows direct attachment of an EXFO fiber inspection probe for high resolution connector end face analysis.
Power management on the EXFO FTB-200 Modular Optical Handheld System is optimized for extended field operation. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 8 hours of autonomy under typical Bell-core referenced usage conditions. The battery can be recalibrated using integrated utilities to maintain accurate reporting of remaining capacity over time. Its AC adapter accepts 100 to 240 V input and delivers 24 V output. Environmental specifications of FTB-200 ensure reliable service within harsh industrial and telecommunications sites. It operates from -5 to 50 °C and tolerates storage down to -40 °C. Relative humidity from 0 to 95% non-condensing is supported without performance degradation. The unit’s mechanical robustness includes vibration resistance to 1.5 g and shock resistance to 760 mm.
The FTB-200 Modular Optical Handheld System includes visual indicators that report power status charging activity and battery faults during extended missions along with operating state and measurement outcome for active test applications.
