Keysight/Agilent M8067A ISI Channel Board
The Keysight/Agilent M8067A ISI Channel Board is an instrument specifically developed to introduce controlled channel attenuation and intersymbol interference for characterizing high-speed digital receivers. A variety of different trace boards are included with the product. These include Trace Boards with either 1.85mm connectors for speeds up to 64 GBd or 1.0mm connectors for speeds up to 120 GBd. Each of the 1.85mm Trace Boards (M8067A-001 and M8067A-002) has three differential trace pair locations. Each of the 1.0mm Trace Boards (M8067A-003, M8067A-004, and M8067A-005) has two trace pair locations. The mechanical bracket system allows for both vertical and horizontal placement on a test bench. Users may also download S parameter files per serial number to accurately embed channels.
Users utilize the M8067A to create a broad range of channel attenuation levels (between 5 and 30 dB) for validating receiver tolerance within server and data center network interfaces. In addition to creating channel attenuation, the boards also produce bounded deterministic jitter caused by the signal degradation due to propagation loss along a length of cable known as intersymbol interference. If users need to perform tests at symbol rates less than 32 GBd, then they should consider using the M8049A Series. The trace boards are available with trace lengths ranging from 1.4 inches to 17.1 inches and will provide repeatable, realistic representations of channel S21 loss characteristics used for testing electrical interconnects against standards such as PCI Express.
The small footprint size of the M8067A provides the ability to place this product near the device under test (DUT), minimizing electromagnetic susceptibility. Users may insert specific printed circuit board (PCB) traces into the signal path of either a single-ended or differential signal to simulate several link conditions without having to build custom fixtures. The PCB trace insertion method provides designers with accurate and repeatable receiver stress testing for today's fast-paced multi-gigabit serial interfaces, providing assurance that their designs will function properly when deployed and subject to expected channel degradation.
