Aeroflex PXI-82545 PXI/CompactPCI Chassis
The Aeroflex PXI-82545 is an 18-slot PXI/CompactPCI chassis engineered for high-capacity modular test systems. It serves as a scalable platform designed to host PXI-based instruments in industrial and automated test environments. With 17 peripheral slots and a single slot for the system controller, the chassis conforms to the PXI-1 specification for seamless modular integration. The PXI-82545 is compatible with both 3U PXI and CompactPCI modules. The Aeroflex chassis includes a high-performance backplane divided into multiple PCI segments using two PCI bridges. Its each segment maintains full 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI performance with a data bandwidth of 132 MB/s per segment. The PXI-82545 supports standard PXI trigger buses and distributes a 10 MHz reference clock to all module slots.
The PXI-82545 chassis integrates a wide-range industrial AC power supply supporting 90–264 V input at 47–63 Hz. It delivers regulated DC outputs to all slots across +5 V, +3.3 V, ±12 V rails with adequate headroom. Each slot complies with PXI power delivery standards and supports modules drawing typical or high current loads. The PXI-82545 chassis includes internal over-voltage and over-temperature protection for system safety and power integrity. Thermal performance is achieved through integrated forced-air cooling managed by high-speed fans with temperature control. The PXI-82545 includes a removable air filter and internal thermal sensors that adjust fan speed as required. This enables reliable operation within ambient temperatures up to 45 °C under full load. It is enclosed in a durable metal housing suitable for 19-inch rack-mount installation with front-facing module access.
The PXI-82545 comes configured with an MXI-4 interface for remote control by an external PC. Its included MXI-4 link enables full PCI-level access to all chassis modules with minimal latency. The system slot hosts the PXI-to-MXI module that connects via coaxial cable to a matching PCI card on the host computer. This architecture allows the PXI-82545 to operate as a peripheral extension of a standard PC. Status indicators on the front panel provide visual feedback for power, fan operation and thermal state. It is compliant with EN 61326-1 and EN 61010-1 for electromagnetic compatibility and safety. The chassis supports Aeroflex 3000 series RF instruments and is also compatible with third-party 3U PXI modules. It is suitable for laboratory, production and development test environments requiring stable and synchronized PXI infrastructure.
