In a fast Ethernet environment where fiber cable is the norm, the Keysight J3445A fiber optic interface allows you to take advantage of the speed of fiber while still being able to utilize your existing copper-based test equipment. It is designed to be plugged directly into the J3444A undercradle. Since it is connected via the undercradle, it does not require a separate media converter or transceiver. This allows for a clean, compact connection from your test equipment to your fiber-based fast Ethernet network. Therefore, the J3445A would be a convenient option for those network engineers working on projects in which they have established fiber cabling throughout their site.
The J3445A operates as one portion of the Keysight Advisor. The Keysight Advisor is a mobile, all-encompassing network analyzer system developed to aid professional network engineers when they are installing, supporting, and maintaining local area (LAN), wide area (WAN), and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network infrastructures. With the J3444A undercradle combined with the J3445A fiber interface, the Advisor has expanded its test capabilities to include fiber Fast Ethernet network segments. As such, technicians will now have direct access to network traffic without having to bring additional hardware with them in the field. Additionally, the J3445A allows for quick and efficient troubleshooting across a broad range of network configurations by filling the void left between copper-based test equipment and fiber-optic networking systems.
As mentioned previously, the Keysight Advisor includes numerous diagnostic and analytical tools that make isolating faults, verifying performance, and confirming overall network integrity much easier. Similarly, with the inclusion of the J3445A, users will now be able to employ many of these exact same tools on their fiber-fast Ethernet links. Thus, the J3445A would be well suited for use within large enterprises, data centers, or other industrial applications utilizing fiber cabling as their primary method of network communication.
The Keysight J3445A is sold as a separate fiber optic interface device. It is designed to be installed directly into the J3444A undercradle. Therefore, its usage and compatibility are limited to the specific undercradle product, making it a purpose-designed product versus a generic adapter. The J3445A is recommended for use by all network professionals utilizing the Keysight Advisor to analyze their fiber-based segments of the Fast Ethernet network.
