The Keysight/Agilent U3057C SerialTek BusXpert PRO is able to monitor SAS and SATA activity on up to four lanes (ports) at speeds as high as 1.5 Gb/s, 3.0 Gb/s, and 6.0 Gb/s. Utilizing a native PHY combined with the industry's best PLL lock time utilizing SerialTek's patented re-lock technology, the serial bus analyzer is able to provide the most accurate monitoring possible throughout the entire process, including speed negotiations, power management sequences, and spread-spectrum clocking. The U3057C provides 2 ns timing accuracy when capturing timing measurements from SAS wide links and margin validation in addition to being three times more accurate than standard methods. The on-the-fly adjustable RX/TX signaling along with the eye-opener front-end allows for adjustment of the probing characteristics based upon the specific physical channel characteristics to preserve signal integrity when testing different backplane and cable configurations.
The U3057C includes several tools to make handling large trace files easier, such as pre-indexing, trace compression, and InstaSearch. These tools allow users to instantly find information in multi-gigabyte captures. The onboard buffer can be scaled up to 72 GB, and data can be offloaded via a PCI Express X4 link, which exceeds 550 MB/s, or via hardware-accelerated Gigabit Ethernet, which exceeds 70 MB/s. The Java-based GUI has multiple dockable views that display transaction, command, and timing diagram information. In addition, export capabilities to CSV, HTML, and XML are available for report generation. Overall, these features allow for rapid development cycle time since any recorded event can be viewed in less than 10 seconds.
Engineers utilize the Keysight/Agilent U3057C to develop and validate their SAS/SATA protocols in industrial automation systems and in enterprise storage validation lab environments. Additionally, the U3057C is used to verify that controller firmware functions properly in both single-vendor environments and those comprised of multiple vendors. Also, because two U3057C analyzers can be cascaded together, allowing for analysis of eight-port SAS wide-link environments, this product is ideal for high-reliability storage backbones found in automated manufacturing cell equipment and data acquisition servers. Furthermore, its 2-ns timestamp granularity will help identify subtle timing issues that cause failure in process-critical transactions. As a result of having both deep trace memory and a hardware-accelerated search function, in conjunction with the flexibility provided by adjustable signal conditioning, the Protocol Analyzer will become the primary tool utilized for diagnostics in all integration lab environments and automated production test floor environments.
