Keysight M9023A PXIe High-Performance System Module
The Keysight M9023A represents a single slot 3U PXIe system module that mounts directly within a PXIe chassis’s system slot. The M9023A is equipped with two Gen 3 x8 PCIe cable connections using iPass connectors on the front panel of the module, allowing users to create a direct high-bandwidth connection from an external host computer to the chassis. The combination of the M9023A along with a compatible host adapter such as the Keysight M9049A provides support for applications requiring extensive amounts of data transfer from an external PC to operate PXIe instruments or expand systems over multiple chassis.
The M9023A can be configured in various ways, providing flexibility when used in conjunction with an external PC. It may function as two separate independent x8 ports or be combined to provide a single x16 port. Using the M9023A in x16 mode, up to 16 GB/s of maximum data bandwidth may be delivered to both the external PC and the PXIe backplane. Multi-chassis configurations will utilize the ability to “daisy-chain” by connecting each subsequent chassis via one of the M9023A’s x8 ports. One port would connect to a host adapter or upstream chassis, while the second port would be connected to a downstream chassis that contains another M9023A, M9022A, or M9024A. Connecting an M9037A PXIe embedded controller to the M9023A also allows for interconnection of multiple chassis.
Passive cables of up to two meters in length, like the Keysight Y1202A and Y1203A, may be used to maintain Gen 3 signal integrity. The front-panel LEDs provide an indication of the module's operational state, the states of the connections with both the host and the backplane, and the modes of operation of the second port. Due to its support for either a four-link (four ports at 10 Gbps each) or two links (two ports at 20 Gbps each) on the PXIe backplane (with a maximum power usage of 33.5 W), the M9023A is a viable option to expand test and measurement systems over several chassis while maintaining high-speed data transfer rates.
