Keysight/Agilent M9164C 2X16 PXIe Switch Matrix
The Keysight M9164C is a full crossbar, solid-state, programmable switch matrix, available in a modular PXIe format. The M9164C provides routing of signals from 300 kHz through 18 GHz. It has a 2 x 16 configuration, which provides 256 possible switched paths. This means any one of two input ports may be routed to any of sixteen output ports at the same time without physical contact or mechanical wear. The Keysight M9164C is constructed entirely using solid-state technologies, providing very fast switching times and long-life operation, which will reduce the total cost of testing in high-volume production applications. Additionally, built-in temperature control provides stable RF performance under variable environmental conditions; thus, no calibration is required during use.
Using the Keysight M9164C switch matrix transforms a standard vector network analyzer into a VNA that incorporates a switch-based multiport VNA solution. The ability to cascade additional M9164C modules allows engineers to build large, non-blocking matrices, which are useful for testing multi-antenna systems, beam-forming arrays, and multi-port devices. These large-scale matrices excel in the field of measuring massive MIMO antennas for use in 5G wireless networks. Here, the simultaneous testing of many ports greatly increases the speed of each validation cycle. In Automated Test Equipment (ATE) applications, the matrix routes RF/microwave signals to multiple DUTs (devices under test) with little crosstalk due to superior port-to-port isolation. This isolation is extremely important in densely populated ATE rack areas because signal quality must be maintained.
Besides being a high-quality matrix switch, ConnectCheck is also a real-time check of all switch paths in the device without needing any external instruments. This gives users confidence in their signal path before they begin running any measurements or tests on the system. The ConnectCheck function greatly reduces fault finding in complex test configurations. The module is configured via a single-wire interface, which makes integration with other systems much simpler. Furthermore, the 16-port output density enables maximum channel density within a PXIe chassis slot. From final test of semiconductors to satellite payload verification, the Keysight M9164C provides flexible, low-maintenance solutions for complex RF switching requirements and will adaptively grow as your test needs do.
