Keysight/Agilent M9408B PXIe Pulse and T/R Reflectometer Module
The Keysight M9408B is a 2-slot PXIe Pulse/T/R Reflectometer Module that extends the frequency range of a PXI Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) from DC to 20 GHz. The M9408B contains internally tested and reference couplers, as well as DPDT transfer switches, a single-pole single-throw (SPST) pin switch, a precision band-pass filter, and an attenuator. These components allow increased output power, as well as fast pulse-RF characterization.
At the front panel of the M9408B, it connects the VNA source signal from the SRC In connector via the SPST pin switch to clean pulse modulation. An externally provided TTL-compatible pulsed repeat frequency input controls this SPST pin switch with a 100 ns transition time. When set low (0 volts DC), the SPST pin switch turns on. When set high (+5 volts DC), the SPST pin switch turns off. After passing through the SPST Pin Switch, the modulated RF passes through a high-pass filter to remove video feed-through before being sent to the SRC out port. Optionally, an external amplifier may be connected between the SRC Out Port and the CPLR THRU Access Port to greatly increase the drive level available at the Test Port. Internally, two Double Pole/Double Throw (DPDT) switches are used to configure the main signal path. They direct the test port to either the CPLR THRU to provide a high-power stimulus or to the NF OUT port to perform noise figure and receiver measurements.
The M9408B can support high-powered pulsed S-parameter measurements, amplifier linearity tests, and noise-figure characterization in demanding production and R&D applications. Control of the M9408B is accomplished by use of the Soft Front Panel (SFP), an IVI driver, or a SCPI server, allowing for rapid integration into a PXIe-based automated test system. When paired with a core VNA module, users have the ability to integrate both stimulus and response functions along with pulse-modulation capabilities into one compact platform. Additionally, since both ports utilize the same coaxial connectors, users will not need to physically re-cable their devices to enable transmit and receive characterization, providing for simplified multi-port expansions.
