Keysight/Agilent M9485A PXIe Multiport Vector Network Analyzer
The Keysight M9485A is a modular PXIe vector network analyzer that is designed for high-efficiency multi-port and multisite device characterization. It provides frequency coverage from 1 MHz or 50 MHz up to 9 GHz. It can be used across a broad frequency band (from 1 MHz or 50 MHz up to 9 GHz) and has been designed to scale using additional modules. The M9485A supports up to 24 test ports; in a single chassis, up to 12 test ports are supported. Using independent sources and receivers on every port eliminates the need for sweeping with traditional switch matrices. Therefore, users have the ability to perform true simultaneous multiport measurements. As a result, the overall cycle time is greatly reduced for the validation of complex RF components that include front-end modules, filters, and switches within automated production environments.
Designed specifically for use in industrial automation and high-volume manufacturing environments, the M9485A performs a complete measurement sequence in approximately 5 milliseconds for 201 data points using a full two-port calibration. The wide dynamic range of the analyzer is capable of achieving values as large as 160 dB in enhanced configurations. These ranges allow users to accurately characterize highly rejected RF components. Additionally, the exceptional temperature stability of the analyzer (approximately 0.005 dB/°C) extends calibration intervals and decreases downtime due to required calibrations. The extremely low trace noise level achievable by the analyzer (approximately 0.001 dB rms) provides users with the ability to capture very slight variations in the behavior of electronic devices tested without loss of measurement integrity.
The M9485A utilizes a common operating environment where users may utilize their existing knowledge and skills of using benchtop VNAs combined with additional functionality related to advanced multi-channel control. Users can program up to 200 measurement channels utilizing limitless traces and configure a custom window layout using drag-and-drop functionality. Accelerated development time of tests and reduced programming time are realized by utilizing full n-port guided calibrations and channel copy functionality. Distributed stimuli at multiple independent test ports reduce the overall time spent testing individual devices.
Integrated bias tees, automatic fixture removal, time domain, frequency offset, noise figure, and gain compression capabilities add versatility to automation.
Housed in a PCIe chassis, the M9485A will fit into a rack-based station alongside other modular instrumentation. Replacing multiple benchtop VNAs with a scalable system reduces both capital expenditures and operational expenses while providing sufficient throughput to meet the needs of 5G production.
