The National Instruments 781068-02 (NI-9207) is a 16-channel C Series combination voltage and current input module designed for integrated sensor measurements in industrial automation and process control systems. Combining eight voltage channels (±10 V range, ±10.4 V typical) and eight current channels (±20 mA range, ±22 mA typical) within a single enclosed module, it eliminates the need for separate signal conditioning hardware. Built around a high-precision 24-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter, the multiplexed architecture sequential scans all 16 channels at aggregate sample rates up to 500 S/s.
Flexible timing configurations allow users to optimize performance for speed or measurement accuracy. High-Resolution mode provides a 52 ms per-channel conversion time with minimal noise floor (16 µVrms on voltage channels, 50 nA rms on current channels), while High-Speed mode reduces conversion time to 2 ms per channel (80 µVrms voltage noise, 200 nA rms current noise). Across its operating temperature range, the module maintains excellent thermal stability, exhibiting a voltage gain drift of 21 ppm/°C (14 µV/°C offset drift) and a current gain drift of 43 ppm/°C (30 nA/°C offset drift).
Engineered for energy efficiency and rugged deployment, the NI-9207 draws a maximum of 295 mW active power from the chassis backplane (reducing to 25 µW in sleep mode) with an active thermal dissipation rating of 0.75 W. Featuring a front-panel 37-pin D-SUB connector and 60 VDC channel-to-earth ground isolation, the 5.1 oz (144 g) unit operates reliably across an extended industrial temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C (storage from -40 °C to 85 °C)—providing a robust, compact solution for simultaneous voltage and current loop monitoring in CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems.
