National Instruments PXI-4462 PXI Sound and Vibration Module
The PXI-4462 (Part Number: 779688-01, 779131-01 ) PXI Sound and Vibration Module is a Dynamic Signal Acquisition or DSA device manufactured by National Instruments. The PXI-4462 is ideal for use in a wide variety of applications, such as environmental noise testing, rotating machinery evaluation, audio assessment, vibration analysis, machine condition monitoring, acoustic measurements, noise, vibration, and harshness measurements, and more. This Sound and Vibration Module has 24-bit resolution and a sample rate of 204.8 kS per second, the capability to sample and synchronize at the same time, and high-performing noise, distortion, and dynamic range. Several more of the useful features on the PXI-4462 include a four-channel dynamic signal acquisition and six gain settings to configure an input range. The device has a high-pass filter cutoff frequency of 3.4 Hz.
The National Instruments PXI-4462 module can handle two terminal configurations for analog input, which are differential and pseudo-differential. The pseudo-differential configuration is best if the signal source is floating. However, if the signal source is grounded or ground referenced, either differential or pseudo-differential configurations can be utilized. Upon powering on the sound and vibration module, it will automatically be configured for differential mode.
On the PXI-4462 Sound and Vibration Module, the analog overload point for the 0 dB gain range is around 10.7 Vpk, which is the voltage when the front-end circuitry starts saturating. There is also a digital overload detection feature, which happens prior to the module fixing gain and offset errors. Since the PXI-4662 spots the overload prior to correcting the gain and offset errors, it will also catch an overflow setting in the ADC filter.
The NI-DAQmx driver software is the primary software on which the PXI-4462 device is run, and should be installed (the driver software) before installing the device (the PXI-4462). The device is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Microsoft Visual C++, Microsoft Visual Basic, Borland C++, and Microsoft .NET. The device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. Additional specifications for the PXI-4462 can be found in the datasheets and manuals under the "Manuals & PDFs" tab.
PXI-4462 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
The PXI-4462 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy. If you need the PXI-4462 calibrated, Apex Waves provides options. We offer high-quality NIST accredited calibrations through a 3rd party, with an average turnaround time of 1 to 2 weeks. When you order the PXI-4462 with us, you can request basic (unaccredited) in-house calibration that will calibrate the part to the manufacturer specifications prior to being shipped. Call or email us today for more information about calibrating the PXI-4462!
