The NI PXI-8232 is an IEEE 488, Gigabit Ethernet Instrument Control Module designed with the combined features of a Gigabit Ethernet port and a robust GPIB controller in a compact, single-slot module. Users can employ this module for the integration of non-PXI and PXI enabled systems. The PXI-8232 comes with the additional benefit of an 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet controller from Intel. The swift Gigabit Ethernet transfer rate (up to 1,000 Mbit/s) provides an advantage because it stays attuned with 10BASE T and 100BASE TX-based fast Ethernet networks.
The integrated Ethernet port on this module can also be used as an EtherCAT master, which can easily be programmed and customized with the help of NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT program in LabVIEW. This module comes with a complimentary license for the NI 488.2 driver software, ensuring maximum reliability for syncing with third-party instruments through GPIB. This module comes with a standard ether connector and a standard 24-pin IEEE 488 connector as well.
The NI PXI-8232 comes with a Windows and LabVIEW RT compatible GIGE and GPIB controller. It can provide transfer rates up to 7.7 MB/s by utilizing the HS488. This system also comes with a feature for the automatic detection of the cable’s polarity. The addition of the IEEE 488 interface in this single-slot PXI module helps the user save a slot in their system, which can then be utilized in other ways. The IEEE 488.1 can provide a transfer rate of higher than 1.5 Mbytes/s and is designed to comply with EEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and IEEE 802.3ab standards.
