National Instruments 779973-02 Multifunction I/O Device
The National Instruments 779973-02 is a high-channel-count USB multifunction I/O device in the M Series data acquisition family and is one version of the USB-6255. It connects to a computer through USB 2.0 and uses screw-terminal connections, making it easy to connect a wide range of sensors, instruments, and other equipment. This model is designed for use with 220 VAC Swiss power standards.
The 779973-02 provides 80 analog input channels, with each channel configurable for either single-ended or differential measurements. The analog inputs have 16-bit resolution and support sampling rates of up to 1.25 MS/s when using a single channel, or up to 750 kS/s when scanning multiple channels. The device also includes two 16-bit analog output channels and 24 digital I/O lines.
For timing and counting applications, the 779973-02 includes two 32-bit counters/timers. It supports both analog and digital triggering, giving users precise control over when measurements and other operations begin.
The 779973-02 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including laboratory automation, research and development, design verification, production testing, and portable data collection. Because it connects directly to a computer through USB and does not require an internal expansion slot, it can be installed and put into service quickly on both desktop and laptop computers.
The device can also be expanded with SCC signal-conditioning modules or SCXI systems for applications that require additional signal conditioning, such as measuring low-level sensor signals or handling higher-voltage measurements. An onboard amplifier and NI's PGIA 2 technology help maintain measurement accuracy across a wide range of input configurations and scanning speeds. NI-MCal calibration software can also be used to help maintain measurement accuracy over time.
The 779973-02 is supported by NI-DAQmx driver software, which simplifies device configuration and provides the tools needed for applications to communicate with the hardware. It can be programmed using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio, making it suitable for integration into custom measurement, data acquisition, and automated test systems.
