National Instruments PXI-6561 PXI Digital Waveform Instrument
The PXI-6561 (Part Numbers: 778993-01, 778993-02, 778993-03, 191562A-03) is a 16-Channel, 100 MHz Digital Waveform Instrument designed for interfacing, with up to 20 low-voltage signaling digital pins. The PXI 6561 part numbers differ in their onboard memory sizes. Part number 778993-01 has 2 Mb/channel, part number 778993-02 has 16 Mb/channel, and part number 778993-03 has 128 Mb/channel. This instrument can sample waveforms below and up to 100 MHz and can interface with standard LVDS voltage levels as well. The PXI 6561 also comes with capabilities for advanced synchronization, which is necessary for building joint mixed-signal test systems. The onboard clock on this instrument can operate within a frequency range of 48 Hz to 100 MHz.
This Digital Waveform Instrument comes with the Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) technology. Thus, parameters such as maximum number of waveforms stored in memory, number of samples, and number of script instructions are user-defined and flexible. The SMC allows instructions and waveforms to share the onboard memory. The NI PXI-6561 provides 2 Mbit/channel for both the generation sessions and acquisition sessions. It can operate in two generation modes, which are the single-waveform mode and scripted mode. In the scripted mode, the PXI 6561 generates a complex or straightforward sequence of waveforms. In single waveform mode, it produces a single waveform once, continuously or n times.
The National Instruments PXI-6561 comes equipped with five types of triggers: Start Trigger, Pause Trigger, Script Trigger, Advance Trigger, and Reference Trigger. The NI-HSDIO driver software which is used with the NI PXI 6561 allows the user to control and configure their device. It also provides application interfaces for several development environments, such as LabVIEW 7.0 (or later), Microsoft Visual C/C++ 6.0 or later, and LabWindows™/CVI™ 6.0 or later. Other driver and editing software for this instrument includes Digital Waveform Editor, Express VIs for LabVIEW 7.1 and later, and Script Editor. The device weighs 12 oz., and measures 8.5 x 0.8 x 5.1 in. in physical dimensions.
PXI-6561 Obsolete Status has been declared by National Instruments, but the instrument will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
