PCI-7314, 24-Bit, Digital I/O Motion Controller
National Instruments PCI-7314 Motion Controller
The National Instruments PCI-7314 is a PCI Step Motion Controller. This Controller offers software programmable and customized controlling for as many as four axes of motion. This model also provides necessary I/O signals and resources for different switches and many other general-purpose and specific functions. The NI PCI-7314 offers support for event-based motion profiling, velocity profiling, and point-to-point position modes in velocity control applications. The velocity control mode of the NI PCI-7314 allows the user to continue with a motion at a fixed velocity (pre-programmed) until a home switch or limit is actuated or until a halt or kill function is called.
This Motion Controller is designed to operate in open-loop mode only. However, it can be utilized for the half, full, and micro-stepping applications. Users have various options to choose from when programming their PCI-7314 Controller, which can be accomplished while using the NI application program, ValueMotion or ValueMotion VIs. Programming this Controller is straightforward with the help of a powerful, yet simple API (application programming interface). Thus, the user will be able to call and execute all motion control functions into a dynamically linked or static library. These libraries are easily callable from Visual Basic, C, and other languages.
The National Instruments PCI-7314 comes equipped with a high-density, 68-pin female connector. The 24-bit digital I/O port incorporated in the Controller can be accessed through an externally located 68-pin female VHDCI connector. This Controller can easily be installed in any +5 V PCI expansion slot in a Windows-based computer.
