National Instruments SCXI-1378 Terminal Block

The NI SCXI-1378 (Part Numbers: 778731-01 and 188359B-01) has the capability to configure the SCXI-1130 High-Density Matrix Switch Module. The possible configurations include a 4x64 (1-wire) matrix or a 4x32 (2-wire) matrix. The user should keep in mind that the 4x64 configuration solely utilizes even numbered rows in the Terminal Block. This Terminal Block does not require external wiring because it functions with NI matrix expansion plugs, which results in instantaneous row expansion through column connection. The NI SCXI-1378 is a Front-Mounting Terminal Block with screw terminals to link signals and trigger input and trigger output signals.

The National Instruments SCXI 1378 Terminal Block provides suitable procedures to expand the rows and/or columns of the SCXI-1130 by utilizing two or more SCXI-1378 Terminal Blocks. For example, it is possible to expand the rows of a 4x32 matrix by utilizing a matrix expansion plug. The matrix expansion plug links columns to expand the rows.  First, the user can link two NI SCXI-1378 Terminal Blocks to the front connectors of two adjacent SCXI-1130 Matrix Switch Modules. Then, the user should tighten the top and bottom chassis screws on the rear of the SCXI-1378 back panels to keep them in place. Finally, the user can link a matrix expansion plug to the top or bottom column connectors of the two NI SCXI 1378 Terminal Blocks. To create an 8x64 1-wire matrix with SCXI-1378 Terminal Blocks, the user can link a single matrix expansion plug on the top or bottom of two adjacent NI SCXI-1378 Terminal Blocks.
