National Instruments myDAQ University Kit Data Acquisition Device
The myDAQ University Kit (Part Number: 781326-01) from National Instruments is an all-in-one portable solution for hands-on engineering education, including a powerful data acquisition device and software instruments. This all-in-one kit enables students to perform professional-level electronics measurements and instrumentation tasks at any location. It converts a standard PC into a full-featured engineering lab. Its design is ideal for performing experiments in circuit design, sensor interfacing, and signal processing outside a normal lab environment.
Included with the device are eight LabVIEW-based instruments needed to perform a wide range of academic projects. The hardware provides high-performance functionality with two analog input and two analog output channels of 16-bit resolution, which can sample or update at the high rate of 200 kS/s. The DAQ can measure voltages in the range of ±2 V to ±10 V with the additional benefit of dedicated AC-coupled audio inputs and outputs to allow for signal analysis as well as sound reproduction. The kit is further expanded with eight digital I/O lines that may each be configured and a 32-bit counter/timer device, which will allow for frequency measurement, event counting, and control of digital logic.
Educators and engineers are utilizing the myDAQ University Kit as a hands-on method for teaching analog/digital electronics, control systems, and physics. Students can build and test actual circuits, acquire data, and create algorithms for signal analysis using information from a variety of sensors with the hands-on experience acquired through using tools which are industrial in their standard and based on procedures used by industry. With the hands-on experience at industry standard in the use of data acquisition and test automation, students are enabled to bridge the gap between theoretical conception and actual practical implementation. The development kit provides the base platform for participation in project-based learning in a number of branches of engineering education.
