National Instruments 783773-01 USRP Software Defined Radio Standalone Device

The National Instruments 783773-01 is a compact, dual-channel Software Defined Radio (SDR) transceiver engineered for wireless prototyping, spectrum monitoring, and embedded RF signal processing. Operating across a wide frequency range from 70 MHz to 6 GHz with up to 56 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth, the device features a 2x2 MIMO transceiver architecture. RF performance is supported by integrated transmitter and receiver filter banks for enhanced out-of-band selectivity, delivering over +10 dBm output power, a receive noise figure under 8 dB, an IIP3 rating of -20 dBm, and frequency accuracy within ±2.0 ppm. Analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion is handled by 12-bit converters operating at sample rates up to 61.44 MS/s.

Baseband processing is driven by an onboard Xilinx Zynq-7020 System-on-Chip (SoC) combining a dual-core 866 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 7 Series FPGA programmable logic. Memory architecture is split between 1 GB of DDR3 RAM dedicated to the ARM processor and 512 MB of DDR3 RAM allocated directly to FPGA logic, enabling sample data transfer rates to the ARM core up to 10 MS/s. Additional hardware features include an integrated GPS receiver for precise positioning and time synchronization, along with two host USB ports for connecting external peripherals. Software development is supported through USRP Hardware Driver (UHD) version 3.9.2 or later, RFNoC (RF Network-on-Chip) for FPGA hardware acceleration, and C/C++ or Python programming interfaces.

Powered via an external 5 V to 15 V DC source with a low power consumption profile between 2 W and 6 W, the 783773-01 is housed in a portable enclosure measuring 133 mm × 68.2 mm × 26.4 mm and weighing 375 g. Operating reliably across ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 45 °C, it offers a versatile hardware platform for field-deployed and desktop software-defined radio applications.
