Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 PXI Multiplexer Module
The Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 PXI Multiplexer Module is designed to be versatile in application as a signal routing tool for automated testing and data acquisition systems. The device has two separate 24-channel 1-pole multiplexers (thus referred to as a “dual” 24-channel), allowing engineers to have two completely independent banks of 24 channels each. The relays used on the module are ruthenium reed relays, which have a very stable and consistent contact resistance; they provide a long operating life and thus the Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 is capable of supporting low-level signals through to high-power switching. The module automatically switches between the two banks of 24 channels to isolate them from each other when not being utilized and is an important feature to reduce the capacitive loading and potential leakage paths when using the module in conjunction with larger system configurations.
The Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 is most often used to connect multiple individual signals to a single measurement instrument or source. Engineers use this multiplexer in various applications such as component testing, sensor networking and functional verification in manufacturing environments. The Multiplexer is rated for a maximum switching voltage of 150 VDC and can switch up to 1.2 A of current, making it capable of handling a wide variety of signals. The module provides a fast relay operation time that increases test throughput. Connections to the user interface are accomplished via a front panel 68-pin Micro-D connector that ensures the connection to the test fixture is securely maintained.
The Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 is a PXI module and is fully compliant with the standards set forth for 3U PXI and Compact PCI modules and can be used in Pickering’s LXI Modular Chassis for Ethernet-based control. The module is supported by full-featured software drivers (IVI and VISA) that allow seamless interfacing with popular development environments such as LabVIEW, Python, and MATLAB. The module includes eBIRST Diagnostic Tools that greatly aid in quickly identifying faults and maintaining the overall system. Due to its design configuration of having two independent banks of 24 channels along with its rugged construction, the Pickering 40-632-021-D/24/1 provides a highly reliable and expandable solution to the need for adding additional channels of signal input and to simplify complex signal routing tasks in industrial automation.
