Pickering 40-115-121 Reed Relay Module
Pickering’s 40-115-121 is a high-density 3 U PXI, single-pole, single-throw (SPST), normally open reed relay module, designed for use in a variety of automated test and signal routing applications. By integrating 32 individual SPST NO relays into a small 3U form factor module, the 40-115-121 offers a very compact and reliable means of switching low-level signals in demanding test system environments. The module is also useful for building large, complex switch networks, for slave-controlling large power relays, or for operating external equipment such as solenoids using a modular chassis approach.
This module is built using the highest quality ruthenium-sputtered reed relays from Pickering Electronics. These relays have been proven to provide a very stable contact resistance over many cycles, resulting in an expected operating cycle life of over one billion cycles at low power. The electrical specifications for this module are: a maximum DC switching voltage of 150V, a maximum carry current of 1.2A and a nominal on-path resistance of less than 0.5 ohms. Additionally, the module can switch rapidly; approximately 250 microseconds for both operate and release times which allows the module to support high throughput testing applications. The module connects to test fixtures using a rugged front panel 96 pin male micro-D connector. Internal PCB connections allow the user to easily connect multiple modules together for more complex wiring configurations.
The 40-115-121 is compatible with all standard 3U PXI, Compact PCI, and hybrid PXI Express chassis, as well as Pickering's LXI modular chassis for either Ethernet or USB control. In addition to being a highly flexible product, the 40-115-121 is supported by a wide range of software, including VISA, IVI, and kernel drivers to provide easy access to the device through various development environments, including those provided by National Instruments, Keysight Technologies, and Mathworks. Additionally, diagnostic tools such as the eBIRST switching system test tool make it easier to maintain the module by quickly identifying failed relays. Overall, the 40-115-121 is a versatile and dependable component for both benchtop and rack-mounted systems in R&D, production testing, and data acquisition that will allow users to easily manage the signal routing and connection aspects of their test systems in a scalable manner.
