RADX Technologies PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB Trifecta PXIe-SSD-RAID Module
The PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB from RADX Technologies Trifecta product line is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) PXIe-SSD-RAID storage module. Designed to handle even the most data-intensive test and measurement environments, this module is an excellent choice for applications such as real-time signal analysis and wideband recording. The module offers 64 TB of unformatted capacity, made possible by employing eight M.2 NVMe 2280 SSDs (each equipped with 8 TB) on a single card. It is also associated with specific part numbers PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB-SB4 and PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB-SS5.
This unique eight-SSD design effectively eliminates the minor issues that are typically caused by write cache saturation in more traditional four-SSD architectures. Users are able to choose between a Sabrent-based configuration (the SB-RKT4P-8TB), or a Samsung-based configuration (the 9100 Pro 8TB). The Sabrent option offers an unformatted write endurance of 44.8 PBW, while the Samsung option offers an unformatted 38.4 PBW.
The operating power required by the module is typically less than 58 W, and the required cooling airflow is only around 15 Linear Feet per Minute (LFM). The front panel of the PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB features LED indicators that offer insight into the status of the uplink and of each individual M.2 slot.
This Trifecta module easily integrates with a range of operating systems, including support for Windows 10 and 11 from Microsoft as well as the 64-bit version of Linux , and RT-Linux. Featuring flexible drive management, the module supports JBOF and software RAID configurations of 0, 1, 5, and 10.
Designed with a single slot, the form factor of the PXIe-SSD-8M.2F-64TB is 3U PXIe Hybrid/CPCIe Type 2. The hybrid version utilizes a J1 backplane connector in addition to the standard XJ3 and XJ4 connections. The physical dimensions of the module measure 100 mm x 160 mm x 20.32 mm (3.94 in x 6.3 in x 0.8 in) and it weighs 0.4 kg (0.8 lbs). While operational, the module should be kept in environments where the temperature range stays within 0 °C and 55 °C with a noncondensing relative humidity of 10 to 90%. While not being used, it should be stored in environmental temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 85 °C.
