Tektronix TDS2024 Digital Oscilloscope
Tektronix's TDS2024 is an advanced, professional oscilloscope with four channels for digital storage that is ideal for professionals working within industrial control systems and automation, as well as when troubleshooting complex electronic issues associated with industrial equipment and processes. The primary functions of this device will allow engineers to troubleshoot and verify numerous types of automated equipment and processes and to service these machines and processes. Key characteristics of the Tektronix TDS2024 include a bandwidth of 200 MHz, a sampling rate of 2 GS/s on each channel; and the ability to simultaneously and accurately collect data from up to four input channels that can have high-speed signals (i.e., sensor, actuator, communication network) that are related to one another via timing or signal quality characteristics. These capabilities are important in determining the relationship between signals collected at various points in a control loop, as well as ensuring the quality of signals transmitted throughout the loop.
Using its advanced trigger system, engineers have the ability to select the particular electrical event they wish to view (e.g., a small pulse, signal dropout) when they suspect there may be a problem at the system level. The built-in Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) math function converts time domain signals into frequency domain signals. Engineers use the FFT math function to identify sources of noise, resonant frequencies, or harmonic distortion in motor drives and power supplies. The TDS2024 also includes several operational efficiencies, including an auto-set function that automatically configures the scope to measure the most commonly seen waveforms and a probe-check wizard that checks the accuracy of probes before recording important measurements.
Optional expansion modules that provide compact flash mass storage enable the saving of instrument setup files, waveform data, and screenshotsfor analysis and report preparation. Measurement data can also be transmitted directly from the TDS2024 to a PC, where it can be placed in a spreadsheet and/or report. The TDS2024 is a flexible and transportable solution for the majority of industrial automation diagnostic measurements, from testing PLC I/O to analyzing power circuits and troubleshooting system integrations.
