Keysight E5270B Precision IV Analyzer
The Keysight E5270B Precision IV Analyzer is a modular 8-slot mainframe designed for current-voltage (IV) characterization of electronic devices and materials. The mainframe includes 8 slots that can be configured and upgraded with multiple Source/Monitor Units (SMUs) for voltage/current sourcing and measurement. It comes with the Keysight EasyEXPERT software, which allows for interactive manual operation or automated testing across a wafer.
In addition to stand-alone analyzer use, the E5270B can act as a system component SMU in rack-and-stack test systems. It supports remote control programming using the FLEX command set via multiple interfaces (GPIB, trigger in/out, and digital I/O. The analyzer supports many measurement types, including spot, pulsed spot, staircase sweep, staircase sweep with pulsed bias, pulsed sweep, and multi-channel sweep measurements. Up to 8 channels can sweep current or voltage simultaneously.
The E5270B achieves accurate and precise measurements ranging from 0.1 fA to 1 A and 0.5 µV to 200 V. Its total power consumption cannot exceed 80 W. The module supports pulse and sweep measurements with a minimum pulse width of 500 µs and a pulse resolution of 100 µs. The Ground Unit (GNDU) mainframe includes an active ground unit capable of forcing 0 V (± 100 µV) and sinking current up to 4 A.
This module provides 16 general-purpose digital I/O signals via a 25-pin DIN connector, which can serve as an alternative to BNC trigger-in/out lines for synchronizing with other instruments.
The E5270B is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from +5°C to +40°C and humidity levels between 15% and 70% RH (non-condensing). It requires AC voltage of 90 V to 264 V, line frequency of 47 Hz to 63 Hz, with a maximum of 600 VA. The mainframe alone weighs 17 kg and measures 426 mm (W) x 235 mm (H) x 575 mm (D).
Supported plug-in modules included high- and medium-power SMUs, high-resolution SMUs, and the Atto Sense and Switch Unit. The E5270B is capable of measuring currents as low as 0.1 fA (when paired with the Atto Sense and Switch Unit) and up to 1 A, along with voltages ranging from 0.5 µV to 200 V.
