Pickering 41-740-001 PXI Programmable DC Power Supply
Designed to be used within PXI Test and Measurement systems, the Pickering 41-740-001 is a dual-output programmable DC power supply module that is also a dual-channel, fully isolated DC power source that will provide both output channels with a 0 VDC to 48 VDC selectable output and will support a total of 60 watts per channel. Each channel may produce 2 amps at 0 to 30 volts DC and 1.25 amps at 48 volts DC. The 41-740-001 power supply module was developed to provide precise voltage and current sourcing along with built-in measurement functions and is designed to be used in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) applications requiring a high degree of reliability and accuracy in the industrial and research & development fields.
Operational key features include a programmable current limiting function, which automatically switches to Constant Current Mode when a protected device is detected, and protects the user against over-voltages, over-current conditions, and short circuits. Remote sense connections are also provided to account for lead resistance in the signal path; additionally, a 16-bit readback function is provided to accurately monitor the output voltage and current from each channel. The two isolated outputs can be combined in either series or parallel configurations to provide additional power if required. An important feature of the unit is the onboard hardware sequence list that enables the operator to define a set of test steps or procedures, which will then run autonomously and store data without having to use the host processor, allowing the operator to perform multiple tests quickly and repeatedly.
The 41-740-001 PXI power supply is currently being used by manufacturers of vehicles, aircraft, telecommunications, and other types of communication devices, etc., who require reliable and consistent power supplies for their devices during both testing and operation. The power is drawn into the unit through the front panel or through the optional AC-DC adapter provided, thus minimizing the amount of backplane loading and improving the overall immunity of the system to electrical noise. The 41-740-001 module is compatible with all standard 3U PXI and PXIe chassis designs, thus facilitating simple and efficient insertion into a wide range of existing modular test systems. Finally, the unit comes complete with a broad range of software tools, including IVI and VISA drivers for programming languages such as LabVIEW and Python, to facilitate rapid development of complex test automation programs.
