Tektronix TDP1000 High-Voltage Differential Probe
Tektronix's TDP1000 is a 1 GHz high-voltage differential probe developed to provide safety and accuracy while performing oscilloscope measurements in harsh electrical environments. The TDP1000 was created to meet the complexities of today’s fast-speed circuit design as well as test & validate circuits; it has the precision and signal quality required for accurate measurement & analysis. The TDP1000 also has a compact probe head, which provides designers with easy access to closely spaced components on a printed circuit board (PCB); this design minimizes PCB load by having an extremely low input capacitance. Additionally, the probe will safely operate with high voltages and can be used to measure differential input voltages up to ±42 volts.
The primary uses for the Tektronix TDP1000 are in the design and testing of switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), in which the tool is used to measure the waveforms of the switches and assess power integrity. The TDP1000 is used by many automotive manufacturers and Tier One suppliers to debug CAN and LIN bus communication systems in their vehicles. In addition, the TDP1000 is widely used for characterizing high-speed digital systems. The Probe is compatible with all Tektronix scopes that have the TekVPI interface, allowing the user to automatically configure the scope’s scale and display, thus greatly simplifying the measurement process. The TekVPI interface also allows for the remote operation of the probe using GPIB or USB and provides a simple on-screen menu to adjust parameters such as bandwidth limiting and/or perform an Auto-Zero operation to correct offsets.
The Tektronix TDP1000 comes complete with a variety of accessories for connecting the probe to devices. Engineers will find multiple lead sets for soldering the probes to devices, straight and square pin tips, ground leads, and adapters to connect to a wide variety of test points. Engineers will also find a series of bandwidth-limiting filters that allow them to reduce high-frequency noise and improve the signal quality of lower-speed signals. With the high bandwidth capability, the ability to handle high voltage inputs, and the flexibility provided by the accessory kit, the Tektronix TDP1000 is a very important tool for engineers developing and testing complex power and digital systems in both R&D and production testing.
