Keysight/Agilent 34904A 4 x 8 Two-Wire Matrix Switch Module for 34970A/34972A
The Keysight/Agilent 34904A is a four-by-eight, two-wire matrix switch module designed specifically for use with Keysight's 34970A and 34972A Data Acquisition and Switch Unit Mainframes. It contains a total of thirty-two possible crosspoints that provide maximum versatility in the routing of test signals from devices under test (DUTs) to connected instrumentation. The module’s relays are designed using an armature-type relay that switches at 300 volts and one ampere. These ratings allow the module to support a variety of test signals while maintaining signal quality due to the 10 MHz bandwidth. Multiple instruments can also connect to different parts of a DUT at the same time due to the modular design of this matrix switch module. As a result, the number of steps required to perform a series of tests on a product will be reduced, and the time required to set up a series of tests will be minimized..
Applications where a great deal of versatility in providing different pathways for connecting test instruments are needed include automated test equipment, production testing, and design verification. The Keysight/Agilent 34904A allows you to send multiple test signals to each node of a D.U.T., which is crucial in functional testing, parametric characterization, burn-in procedures, and others. Due to its two-wire matrix structure, the Matrix Switch Module may handle both AC and DC signals and, as a result, may be used to test a vast array of electronic components and assemblies. Additionally, each module is easily integrated with either the 34970A or 34972. A mainframe, utilizing all of the built-in measurement functions, scanning capabilities, and communication interfaces available via GPIB, RS-232, LAN, and/or USB for remote operation and data logging.
Modules may be cascaded to form larger matrices, such as eight-by-eight, four-by-sixteen, etc. To achieve larger configurations than those provided by a single module, rows or columns may be interconnected across multiple modules. For example, using a single mainframe, a total of ninety-six cross-points may be achieved. The ability to expand or contract the size of the matrix as testing needs dictate gives the engineer the flexibility necessary to adapt his/her switching architecture as the testing requirements evolve. Each unit includes the Keysight 34904A Matrix Switch Module and a functional test certification, thereby enabling the user to immediately place it into service after it has been installed.
