Keysight 34925A Optically-Isolated FET Multiplexer for 34980A
The 34925A from Keysight (originally from Agilent) has been designed as a high-density, optically isolated FET multiplexer module specifically for use with the Keysight 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Mainframe. It consists of eighty cross-points grouped into two separate banks of non-latching FET switches, allowing scanning speeds of up to 1,000 channels per second for high-throughput production test applications. In addition, there are four integrated analogue armature bus relays included within the 34925A. These allow any channel to be connected to an internal digital multimeter (DMM) for direct voltage or resistance measurement via an external wire connection. Upon removal of power from the mainframe, all of the channel and analogue bus relays will also open for safe operation during system reconfigurations.
Test engineers utilise the 34925A for multi-test applications that require rapid and repeatable signal routeing. As an optically isolated module, the multiplexer eliminates potential ground loops and significantly reduces electrical interference (noise), thus allowing the 34925A to be used for low-level voltage and 2-wire or 4-wire resistance measurements. Additionally, the device has three configuration options without utilising any external jumper wires or analogue bus connections. Two-wire mode allows for operation as either two independent 20-channel multiplexers or as one 40-channel multiplexer. Four-wire mode allows for a 20-channel multiplexer to be created and will pair channel 'n' on Bank One with channel 'n + 20' on Bank Two, which provides a convenient method of utilizing the internal DMM to measure precision ohms.
In One-Wire Configuration Mode, you have the ability to configure the module as two separate 40-channel multiplexers or one 80-channel multiplexer when using either an external wire connection or analogue bus link. Each FET channel of the 34925A can handle voltages of up to 80 V and currents of up to 20 mA. Due to its versatility and high channel density, the module is well-suited for functional testing, component characterisation and data acquisition applications requiring high channel densities at rapid scan rates. Terminal blocks for the 34925T-00x should be utilised with the 34925A to properly configure your setup. The Keysight/Agilent FET Multiplexer was engineered to supply both high-speed scanning capabilities and high-level optical isolation to help optimise high-throughput production test systems.
