Keysight/Agilent U2356A 64-Channel USB Modular Multifunction Data Acquisition
The U2356A from Keysight/Agilent is an extremely versatile, compact, low-cost, USB-based modular data acquisition (DAQ) instrument. The instrument has a total of 64 analog input channels (single-ended), which can be used to acquire signals from devices such as sensors, meters, etc. These 64 channels are available in both single-ended (SE) and differential (Diff) configurations. The U2356A has a 16-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 500 K Sa/s. Additionally, the DAQ instrument has 2 x 12-bit analog output channels (AO), each having an update rate of 1 Ms/s. This means users can generate arbitrary or predefined waveforms using AOs. For digital control purposes, the instrument provides 24 programmable TTL lines and 2 general-purpose counter channels. Users can use a BenchVue License (BV0025B) to enable them to quickly control their instruments and create test sequences. Field wiring connections can also be simplified by adding optional U2901A or U2902A terminal blocks.
Users can operate the U2356A either independently or combined with other modules within the Keysight U2781A Modular Instrument Chassis. When operated together, the user can take advantage of flexible triggering & synchronization options to provide a higher number of channels than would be possible if the instrument were operating alone. Users can use the polling mode to utilize the instrument similarly to a DMM (digital multimeter) to simply log data. If they want to get slightly more advanced, users can put the instrument into continuous mode with basic triggering to make it function as a very primitive oscilloscope. Using the Burst Mode option allows the user to simulate simultaneous analog input acquisitions over multiple channels at once. The analog outputs allow users to perform closed-loop feedback testing and stimulus-response testing as well as support digital I/O switches, relays, solenoids, etc., all of which makes the Keysight U2356A an excellent choice for automated test equipment (ATE) & process monitoring.
Based upon high-speed USB 2.0 technology, the Keysight/Agilent U2356A meets all requirements to ensure seamless integration with Keysight VEE, MATLAB R2007a, NI LabVIEW, and Microsoft Visual Studio. Automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial automation design validation and manufacturing engineers utilize this 64-channel data acquisition module for physical measurements, data logging, and continuous monitoring applications. By combining analog input, analog output, digital control, and counter functions in a single USB modular device, complexity and cost associated with the test system hardware are minimized.
