National Instruments TBX-68 Terminal Block
The TBX-68 Terminal Block is a screw terminal, noise reducing accessory manufactured by National Instruments. The NI TBX-68 Terminal Block can also be identified by the part number 777141-01. The primary function of the TBX-68 Terminal Block is the provision of easier connections for field input and output signals with NI data acquisition (DAQ) devices. This Terminal Block is compatible with the SHC68-68-EPM cable.
The National Instruments TBX-68 Terminal Block is an unshielded terminal accessory that comes affixed on a base made of plastic material. The NI TBX-68 Terminal Block can be mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail assembly. The TBX-68 Terminal Block contains 68 screw terminal connections and a female 68-pin Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) connector for connections with 68-pin NI DAQ products. Additionally, the NI TBX-68 Terminal Block also contains 1 male SCSI 68-pin connector to be connected directly to the 68-pin cables in external systems.
The TBX-68 Terminal Block can withstand a voltage up to 30 Vrms or, 42 Vpeak, or 60 VDC on its terminals. If the connection with the voltage exceeds the safe limits, the overvoltage not only damages the National Instruments TBX-68 Terminal Block, but also all the connected devices and host computer are damaged. The NI TBX-68 Terminal Block can be connected to a wire size in the range of 12 – 30 AWG. The TBX-68 Terminal Block is electrically and thermally designed for indoor system applications in particular. The optimum temperature range for the operation of the NI TBX-68 Terminal Block is 0 to 70 oC.
The TBX-68 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which can be programmed with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. The device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.
The Terminal Block weighs 8.8 oz, and measures 5.02 x 4.93 x 2.36 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -20 to 70 °C, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 5 to 90% RH. The device is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
