EXFO OX1-PRO Optical Fiber Multimeter
EXFO’s OX1-PRO Optical Fiber Multimeter (OFM) is an advanced, handheld device used by field technicians to deploy, maintain and troubleshoot fiber-optic networks. In one device, it combines multiple essential testing functions. It eliminates the necessity of using many other devices for field testing. The OFM delivers key performance indicators (KPIs) of length, loss, and optical return loss in less than 3 seconds through a simple single-ended test. An intelligent diagnostic function called Fault Explorer is included to automatically suspect and diagnose problems with the optical link. It can identify many types of link impairment issues, such as fiber breakage, macrobends, or bad connections, and guide technicians to quickly fix the problem without needing expert assistance.
In addition to a built-in light source and power checking, some versions of the OFM are capable of in-service testing (dual band). The EXFO OX1-PRO also has a click-out optical connector that can be replaced at any site to allow for service to be done immediately. The OX1-PRO also has enhanced diagnostics such as Link Mapper that map out elements of the optical link to provide a complete “as found” and “as left” report. The Opitcal Fiber Multimeter is also equipped with additional features for FTTx deployments. These include connectivity checks to the splitter and ONT detection to enable technicians to verify the status of a segment of a network and isolate the problem.
The EXFO OX1-Pro was designed to be efficient in the last mile of installing, activating and repairing PON services and as a result simplifies testing for GPON, XGS-PON, and EPON technologies. The device uses its contextual intelligence to select the correct wavelength and interpret the results using the EXFO Advisor to provide a quality rating. In addition, the EXFO OX1-Pro can be used in conjunction with a mobile app for cloud reporting providing the technician with the ability to report results remotely in real-time and empower technicians of all skill-levels to guarantee network quality, reduce their Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and increase confidence when rolling out new fiber services.
