The EXFO MAX-715B-M1-EA is a portable OTDR designed for the measurement, field troubleshoot ability, and installation verification of last mile fiber optic networks. This is the specialized P2P edition, best applied for use in Fiber to the x (FTtx) architectures, including the use in Fiber to the Antenna (FTTA) and Distributed Antenna System (DAS). This has a 7-inch outdoor-resistant touchscreen display screen, the largest available in the OTDR portable market, providing the operator with the graphical interface similar to the one from the Windows operating environment. The MAX-715B-M1-EA has operation wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm, has a dynamic range of 30/28/28 dB, and allows for the accurate assessment of single-mode fibers. It has a battery life of 12 hours, enabling continuous use over the field for extended periods without the need for repeated recharge. Tamper-resistant password security is provided by the equipment, for the security of sensitive data and prevention against unauthorized access. It also has the added features of an integral power meter and visual fault locator (VFL). This helps test the fiber optic extensively by emitting bright red light seen up to 5 km.
The MAX-715B-M1-EA is supported by EXFO’s iOLM (Intelligent Optical Link Mapper) software, where the analysis of OTDR traces is enriched through the automated setting changes and one-touch solution for complex diagnostics for fiber links. This is useful for technicians of all levels, eliminating the need for manual analysis of the trace. Additionally, the equipment is also supported by FastReporter software, providing enhanced data after the test and automated report generation, thus providing test data easily available and customized for the user’s need.
