VIAVI ONX-630 Sweep and Plant Maintenance System
The VIAVI ONX-630 is an all-in-one handheld meter that is designed for use by field technicians in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) broadband networks. As such, it is an essential tool for validating the operation and performance of HFC networks. The device has integrated DOCSIS 3.1 performance analysis capabilities along with full spectrum analyzer capabilities and the ability to perform both forward and reverse sweep measurements. Also, this system can be used in conjunction with the SCU-1800 Sweep Control Unit to expand its functionality and allow technicians to perform centralized, multi-port reverse sweeps and forward sweeps on networks in the frequency ranges of 204 MHz and 1218 MHz, respectively. This allows for improved head-end operations and reduces the level of noise present in the signals being tested.
The ONX-630 is utilized for a variety of activities and applications. These include routine alignment and sweep tests of HFC plants, as well as more complex problem solving associated with service outages and other technical issues. This system is particularly effective in locating hard-to-identify faults in HFC systems, such as intermittent ingress or network degradation, through technologies such as Hyper Spectrum that provide for real-time upstream noise analysis. The ONX-630 also supports the evolution of current broadband networks through a dual diplexer design that can support higher return path frequencies than current diplexers and can optionally test a variety of additional technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, IP Video, and VoIP services, to name a few. Therefore, the sytem is a very flexible and valuable tool for broadband networks of the future.
Key functional features are incorporated into the ONX-630 to enable technicians to easily perform their work and to increase their efficiency. Automated tools such as Stealth Sweep and AutoChannel can automatically set up and perform channel sweeps, eliminating the need for technicians to manually configure these types of sweeps. Additionally, the device includes various expert diagnostics, such as Channel Expert and DOCSIS Expert, that will analyze specific problems and offer technicians detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot those problems. Finally, the ONX-630 is a modular system that allows for easy upgrades to new technology, while the StrataSync Cloud Platform allows for the automated management and reporting of data across multiple teams and locations, thus enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the maintenance process.
