Keysight/Agilent M9837A PXIe Vector Network Analyzer
The Keysight M9837A PXIe Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) has been specifically developed to provide highly accurate and reliable RF component characterization in both manual and automated test environments. As a 2-port instrument, this VNA contains all necessary receiver components and a fully programmable test set. This enables an engineer to perform S-parameter, noise figure, modulated signal measurements, etc., on the same connection. Due to its ability to provide up to 146 dB of dynamic range and 18 dBm of peak power, along with trace noise levels as low as . At 0.015 dB RMS, the M9837A is capable of performing precise measurements for high-rejection filter and amplifier tests.
One significant advantage that industrial automation engineers will find attractive is the ability to greatly reduce the number of cables required for complex multiport/multisite test setups. Using software-defined measurement applications for Error Vector Magnitude (EVM), Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR), and other measurements eliminates the requirement for additional signal analyzers or switch matrices. In addition, many complex transmit/receive modules, front-end modules, and beam-forming integrated circuits can be easily tested using built-in wizards to measure wideband modulated signals. The sweep time of 1.4 ms at 201 points greatly increases production throughput; additionally, the PXIe form factor makes it possible to design very high-density systems that are easy to scale.
The applications for the Keysight M9837A are numerous, including but not limited to 5G component manufacturing, satellite communication subsystem verification, defense radar module testing, and others. By providing a single modular package with the capability to provide vector network analysis, spectrum analysis, and noise figure measurement capabilities, the Keysight M9837A reduces capital equipment costs and test development time. The single internal source and configurable ports also make calibration and maintenance much easier than traditional VNAs. It is a very versatile core instrument for any automated RF test rack. Additionally, by integrating multiple M9837A modules into a single PCIe chassis, engineers can build densely packed multiport test systems for phased array antennas and massive MIMO.
