Ando AQ8423B Optical Amplifier Analyzer
The Ando AQ8423B Optical Amplifier Analyzer is designed to evaluate performance in various industrial and research settings. It is engineered to measure optical gain, noise figure and other related amplifier parameters with high repeatability. It supports comprehensive characterization of EDFAs (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers) that are used in modern optical communication systems. This analyzer comes with advanced measurement algorithms and stable optical components.
The optical amplifier analyzer operates across a wavelength range of 1525 to 1610 nm. It provides automatic and accurate measurement of optical amplifier gain and noise figure through a spectrum-based analysis method. It achieves a dynamic range greater than 70 decibels that enables the detection of weak signals and reduces measurement uncertainty. The Ando AQ8423B offers a gain accuracy of ±0.2 decibels and noise figure accuracy of ±0.3 decibels for both laboratory and production testing. Its optical input power ranges from -40 to +10 dBm and the output range supports up to +20 dBm. This allows direct testing of amplifiers operating at varying power levels without additional attenuation.
The analyzer is equipped with FC/PC optical connectors along with optional SC/PC configurations. Dual input channels are provided in this model for analysis. Its measurement speed is approximately one second per test that enables efficient multi-sample evaluation. The resolution bandwidth is selectable between 0.1 and 5.0 nm for supporting detailed spectral analysis as well as broad-level power assessments. The AQ8423B is equipped with a built-in LCD display and an intuitive control keypad. The remote operations are supported via GPIB and RS-232C interfaces in this module. It features durable construction that is suitable for industrial test setups and research laboratories.
This optical amplifier analyzer measures approximately 426 mm (16.77 inch) in width, 132 mm (5.2 inch) in height and 450 mm (17.72 inch) in depth. It weighs around 15 kg (33 lb.). The input power requirement for the AQ8423B is 100 to 240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz of operating frequency. The unit consumes less than 150 VA of power. The analyzer can be paired with compatible optical spectrum analyzers such as the Ando AQ6317 to extend measurement capabilities. It is suitable for optical amplifier characterization, system development and quality assurance tasks.
