Keithley DMM6500 Digital Multimeter
Keithley’s DMM6500 is an extremely flexible, 6½-digit digital multimeter that is designed for use either at your workbench or integrated into your larger systems. The DMM6500 integrates a highly resolved capacitive touchscreen interface along with the most extensive range of measurements you would ever want to make with one device. As a result, it eliminates the need for multiple measurement tools. This digital multimeter was developed specifically for the engineer and technician who needs reliable data acquisition over a very broad spectrum of electrical parameters in research, development, and automated test environments.
As shipped from the factory, the DMM6500 contains all of the standard communications interfaces, such as USB-TMC and LXI/Ethernet, and it also has user-installable cards available to provide GPIB, RS-232, and TSP-Link communications interfaces. The DMM6500 provides 15 different measurement functions that include DC/AC voltage and current, 2-wire and 4-wire resistance, capacitance, frequency, period, diode test, and temperature measurements using RTDs, thermocouples, and thermistors. An important feature of this digital multimeter is that it comes equipped with a 1 MS/s 16-bit digitizer that allows you to capture transient waveforms of either voltage or current that occur when a battery-operated device changes operating states and captures waveform anomalies.
The large internal buffer of the DMM6500 will allow you to store up to 7 million readings, which is beneficial if you want to perform long-term data logging sessions. The DMM6500 is most beneficial in automated test systems due to its ability to be programmed; the Digital Multimeter can support native SCPI and TSP script languages and emulate other programmable multimeters such as the Keithley 2000 and Keysight 34401A. The TSP (Test Script Processor) technology allows the instrument to operate independently of external control and therefore allows complex test sequences to be performed without having to send them from an external controller. In addition, the DMM6500 offers the option to utilize scanner cards that are designed to allow automatic switching between channels that can be utilized in multi-channel applications to characterize components or perform thermal profiling. With its numerous features, the Keithley DMM is able to serve as a primary measurement tool in electronics design validation, power analysis, and production test systems.
