Keysight 16380A Standard Air Capacitor Set
Keysight 16380A Standard Air Capacitor Set is used as a highly accurate standard used to calibrate the accuracy of devices that measure impedance, both impedance analyzers and LCR meters. This set consists of four air-dielectric capacitors with capacitances of 1 pF (Keysight 16381A), 10 pF (Keysight 16382A), 100 pF (Keysight 16383A), and 1000 pF (Keysight 16384A), thus providing reliable measurements over a wide range of values of capacitance.
Each capacitor in the series is very stable in terms of capacitance and has low sensitivity to variation in environmental conditions, thus highly suitable to provide accuracy in the process of calibration. The capacitors have a strong housing that protects them against physical and environmental stresses experienced both in storage and transportation. Their accuracy is specified as ±0.1%, along with a very low factor of dissipation of less than 0.0001, which ensures negligible loss in the measurement circuit.
Keysight 16380A provides a direct connection to the impedance-measuring devices via a four-terminal pair connection, thus lessening the effect of parasitic capacitance and providing higher accuracy in measurements. Also, to provide the ability to work with three-terminal or five-terminal instruments, test leads and BNC adapters are provided. Such flexibility in the level provided makes the system capable of meeting varied needs in both laboratory and industrial environments.
Specifically tailored to meet the needs of calibration labs, metrology departments, and manufacturing environments, the 16380A ensures accuracy of measurements. It works best within an ambient temperature range of 23°C ± 5°C, along with relative humidity of 50% ± 20%, thus reducing the impact of environmental conditions on the measurements. Capabilities of the capacitance remain stable at a level not higher than 300 ppm per annum, hence providing reliability without any change over time. The mechanical design of the set includes a carrying case that is specifically tailored to specification, allowing easy transport; the overall weight is estimated at 8.0 kg, which includes the capacitors and the adaptors to the BNC. The capacitors have an upper voltage specification of ±40 V (acceptable on both AC and DC), thus making them suitable for varied test applications and reducing the possibility of electro-degradation.
