Keysight 33250A Function/Arbitrary Waveform Generator
The Keysight/Agilent 33250A is an 80 MHz synthesized function generator with built-in arbitrary waveform and pulse capability for precise signal generation in measurement and test applications. It provides bench-top-like simplicity and system-friendly features that are needed by automated test systems and thus is best suited to stand-alone and automated test systems. The instrument provides all standard waveforms including sine, square, ramp, pulse, noise, and DC as well as five pre-defined and four user-definable 64K-point waveforms.
The 33250A delivers 2 ppm (18°C to 28°C) and 3 ppm (0°C to 55°C) high-frequency stability and accuracy for stable performance in varying conditions. It has a sine wave output with low harmonic distortion, up to -60 dBc spectral purity for frequencies as high as 1 MHz. The square wave feature offers programmable duty cycles from 20% to 80% at rates to 25 MHz with edge transitions in as little as 8 ns. The pulse waveforms offer exacting control over width (from 8 ns to 1999.9 s) and edge transition time (5 ns to 1 ms), while the ramp waveforms exhibit a linearity accuracy of not greater than 0.1% of the maximum output.
High-performance modulation capabilities include AM, FM, and FSK with internal or external modulation sources. Sweep mode operation includes linear or log frequency sweeps from 1 μHz to 80 MHz with start/stop frequencies programmable as well as marker synchronization. Burst mode offers triggered or gated output with programmable counts, phases, and periods.
The 33250A is equipped with color LCD numerical and graphical display of the waveform and easy front-panel operations and non-volatile storage of instrument status. GPIB and RS-232 are standard remote control interfaces, with SCPI command compatibility for simple integration into automated test systems. The output specifications include 10 mVpp to 10 Vpp into 50Ω (20 Vpp into high impedance), with offset ranges of ±5 Vdc.
Ideally suited for design verification, production test, and educational use, the 33250A delivers accuracy, flexibility, and ease of use in a compact, ruggedized form factor. Its high-performance functionality and rugged feature set make it a reliable instrument for generating complex waveforms and simulating real-world signals.
