Aeroflex 3030C PXI RF Digitizer Module
Aeroflex’s 3030C is a high-end PXI RF Digitizer device that was developed for precision RF signal sampling and analysis. The device is capable of converting radio frequency signals into digital IF (intermediate frequency) or I/Q (in-phase/quadrature) data stream formats, thereby acting as the central component in an automated test system used to perform design verification and manufacturing tests on RF components. Operating from 250 kHz to 3 GHz, the 3030C has the ability to capture a large number of signals at once with a very wide dynamic range and extremely high amplitude accuracy.
As an RF digitizer module, the 3030C is ideal for use in the testing of modern wireless communications standards such as 2G, 3G, and 4G cellular, WLAN, and WMAN. Features of the 3030C include a 13-bit Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) that allows for sample rates of up to 200 MSa/s with 256 million samples on board memory, allowing for extended periods of time domain capture of signals. Typical level accuracy of the 3030C is ±0.3 dB, and spurious free dynamic range is 70 dB, providing a high degree of measurement integrity for critical parameters such as adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) and burst power ramps. Rapid switching between frequencies is also possible using the List Mode Functionality of the 3030C. In general this will allow for rapid frequency switching of approximately 325 µS, which is often necessary when testing multi-band devices on a high-throughput production line.
When combined with a companion 3010 series synthesizer module in a PXI (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) chassis, the Aeroflex 3030C forms a complete Vector Signal Analysis solution. The module corrects the I and Q sample data output by the module and applies amplitude and phase flatness correction across the module's bandwidth to ensure that the measurements obtained are valid. The user may then process the data using PXI studio application software, which provides the capability to perform analysis on the data in both the time and frequency domains. As a result, the Aeroflex 3030C offers the speed, accuracy, and flexibility needed to perform challenging RF measurements in both laboratory development environments and volume manufacturing environments.
